Room for drums?
One thing that truly sets us apart from a lot of studios is our spacious live room and the creative possibility of using ambient/room mics on a variety of instruments including drums...
Not only does our live room make for a comfortable recording experience as you aren't cramped in a corner of a box room, it also means we get huge drum room tones at the source. In this video you can hear first of all how good the drums sound tracking each microphone through our desk's analogue Preamps, EQ's & outboard compressors. Then once mixed how the drum sound gets even better.
With the rise of programmed drums widely used as the norm for so many applications now, we are very proud to be able to achieve such tones whilst infusing the life and realism of each drummer behind the kit. We believe that in almost all applications a live drummer can add something that software is not able to replicate and we love capturing it.
The Space
Our spacious live room offers the flexibility to capture a lively, roomy ambience or a tight, controlled sound with the moveable sound treatment panels offering maximum flexibility. This room is perfect for Drum recording, live band sessions or even large choral group/orchestral performances.
The Isolation booth is the perfect space for capturing a singer, isolated guitar cab or acoustic guitar. Ensuring a clean recording for even the most delicate performances.
Our Control Room boasts an impressive 32 channel analogue console as well as various outboard rack gear to craft the optimal recording. Paired with Top Class converters, we can utilise the best of both worlds with a Hybrid approach using a plethora of plug-ins.
The Team
Our in-house engineer Jake Grimes has been recording & releasing music for more than 10 years. As an artist, he understands the importance of a quality production when trying to convey your musical ideas. Jake's releases & productions have appeared on Radio 1, Kerrang Radio & Planet Rock as well as having over 300k streams. Whether you need a producer/songwriter, Mixing Engineer or session guitarist, Jake has got you covered.
